The Trondheim Symphony Orchestra has named Han-Na Chang as its principal guest conductor from the beginning of the 2013-14 season. The appointment follows her debut with the orchestra, just two months ago, in a programme of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Bartók. She joins Trondheim’s chief conductor Krzysztof Urbański, who took up his role in 2010.

‘I am truly happy to have the opportunity to collaborate closely with such wonderful and dedicated musicians – it was evident at our first concert that we share the same passion for music,’ said Chang. ‘I look forward with great excitement to our future performances together.’

Cellist and winner of the Rostropovich International Cello Competition, Han-Na Chang will also become music director of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in September of this year. Her next season includes conducting debuts with both the Dresden Staatskapelle and WDR Sinfonieorchester, and a return to the Orchestra del Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.
